To me, I think any equation is all about partnership, right? And at times, in a lot of partnerships, there is one person who talks too much or there is one person who loves the limelight, and in this partnership it is me! I love to talk, I love to be in front of the camera. How do you and Vivek (her husband and business partner) work, what is the core element to your partnership in work and life? And so once we connected with him and started doing more research, we were like this is just the perfect person. There wasn't that enthusiasm that we felt at the time when we wanted to get into this, and then we started speaking to Derrick (Morse, her partner in Life is Brewing) and his eyes literally lit up like 'yes we could do this' and he started saying ‘how about this way?’ or ‘actually that isn’t going to work, but let’s try this’. Once we came up with this idea, we started approaching different brew masters around town and told them about our vision and a lot of them were like 'yeah ok'. And I wanted to bring those flavors – like cardamom and chai – into the beer and make something really creative. So it was a really fun challenge to me to balance different flavors in this way. I consider the hops in beer as a spice or a flavoring agent. ![]() In India, a beer with a meal is a normal pairing that I wanted to bring here in a unique way. ![]() India Pale Ale is from India, so it was a perfect pairing in my mind. Your undergraduate degree is in hospitality management, and you were trained at the Culinary Institute of America as a chef – what inspired you to make beer, and then open a brewery?
